credit: This week is Share the Care Week, and charity organisation Shared Care Network have released a report singing the praises of short breaks for families with autistic children. The report also highlights the need for more short break carers to provide this valuable service.
Breaking Down the Barriers reports that short breaks help children to make friends and develop new skills, as well as helping families to cope with the demands of caring for an autistic child. 3/4 of parents surveyed said that short breaks made their children happier - which can’t be a bad thing.
