~ March 29th, 2008
Do you know someone who has what it takes to become “Britain’s Missing Top Model”? Well, you’d better hurry as the deadline for applications is Friday April 4th.
The BBC are looking for beautiful female models between 18-30 years old to compete for the title in a 5-part reality TV series to air on BBC Three. Controller of BBC Three, Danny Cohen says
This series aims to challenge the artificial boundaries that seem to exist in the beauty and fashion industries. It would be great if in the future we began to see more disabled models gracing the covers of the world’s magazines
Eight lucky women will move into a London apartment for a 3 week period, where industry experts will train them in every aspect of modelling. The winner will win a photo shoot with one of the world’s foremost photographer and will feature in a spread in a top-women’s glossy magazine.
The show is made by Love Productions, whose Creative Director Richard McKerrow says:
Our intention is to empower both the women featured in the project and thousands of others, who shouldn’t be invisible to the fashion industry just because they are Disabled people. We’re also looking to challenge preconceived notions of beauty
